Student Use of Radiation

I have been asked to gather information about how different colleges and
universities (in particular, the Radiation Safety Office, Health Physics Office,
etc.) handle safety in student (academic not research) laboratories which use
sealed sources, radiation producing machinery, radioactive biological tracers,
etc.

Are formal procedures implimented at the institution (If so, what are
they), or are the faculty left to their own devices?

Any information will be appreciated.

Thank you in advance for all responses.
