Barnwell

The reopening of Barnwell does not relieve other compacts from developing
their own facilities. This is only a temporary relief for facilities that
are having LLW storage problems and delays in their LLW disposal facility
siting process. Other LLW disposal facilities will need to be developed
within the next ten years to handle the amounts of LLW that conitinue to be
produced. Note that there is no ten year limit for Barnwell to stay open
stated in the legislation. The ten year limit is an estimate of capacity.
Take care for now!
