RE: Barnwell Permit

I have the following clarification regarding my previous post RE:
Waste Transport Permits in relation to the Barnwell Disposal site.

The pre July 1, 1995 prices only apply to waste generators who do not
have a waste transport permit.!?

However, the following is a full excerpt from a letter(dated 6/19/95) from the
Director, Radioactive Waste Management (SC DHEC) to "All Waste
Generators:

"Effective July 1, 1995, all South Carolina Radioactive Waste Transport
Permit Fees will increase in accordance with the Environmental Fee
Regulations recently approved by the SC gGeneral Assembly. The fees
are specified in the attached DHEC 800 Form, Application for
Radioactive Waste Transport Permit, Revision April, 1995. All
permitsissued before this date with the original fee will be honored.
However, all generators outside of the Southeast Compact who obtained
1995 permits before July 1 for "Processing Only" may apply to the
Department in writing to have their permits amended for "Transport for
Disposal" for the remainder of the calender year.

You are also reminded that all 1995 permits, regardless of their issue
date, expire December 31st, and a renewal application will be required.

Should you have any questions regarding this matter, please do not
hesitate to contact Arlene Wilkes at (803) 896-4247 or Sonya Lucas at
(803) 896-4240. Our fax number is (803) 896-4242."

The above comprises the excerpt from the referenced letter. I hope
this will be of some use to the members of this list.
