Information Meeting Ramp Superfund

There was a meeting yesterday held at the EPA's Office in Downtown
Denver. This is a summary of what I picked up there. Others who were
there may have some additions.

~2600 LSC vial drums have been shipped from the site at a direct cost of
~$330,000.

Drums remaining; 650-700 drums attributed to a single generator per drum
~250 drums attributed to more than one generator per drum, 25 drums not
identified.

Response/remediation costs to date ~$2M. Current projected total ~$4M
That projection assumes most of those asked to pick up drums will, no
nasty surprizes such as unexpected ground contamination problems, and

Waste originating out
outside of Rocky Mt. Compact does not require an export permit from
Rocky Mt. Low Level Waste Board but will not be able to go to
Benton County facility.

Assuming waste projected to go to Envirocare facility can & does go
there, there should not be a problem with export volume from Rocky
Mt. Compact to Benton County facility.

Wahington State is requesting that all drums be opened and visually
inspected and checked for volitile organic compounds (VOCs) and
a statement to that effect be sent with paperwork for any waste
to go into Benton County facility.

Anybody vitally concerned with an issue mentioned is strongly recommended
to check it out at the source;
