Re: Tritium in freezers.

We do freezer frost surveys on all freezers that contain tritium at
our institution every six months. We usually always get contamination
in the melted frost, and we often even get removable contamination with
a dry wipe on the frost-free freezers. The tritium incorporates itself
somehow into the plastic sides of the freezer and then may even leak
back out at a later time. The only time we get really worried is if the
contamination level reaches 100,000 dpm/ml. Other than that, we keep
an eye on it and know that we will never be able to get rid of those
freezers.
