Re: Schilling and the test
Further to the information already sent by radsafers regarding this
test, there was a fine tribute to Robert F. Schilling by Robert D. Woodson
of the University of Wisconsin, in Amer. J. Hematology 34, 81-2, 1990.
Dr. Woodson relates that Schilling, a modest person, insisted that
the procedure at the University of Wisconsin be listed in manuals as the
"Radioactive B-12 Test" where none of the staff could find it. After
repeated calls to the laboratory from perplexed individuals inquiring why a
Schilling test was not available, of all places, at the University of
Wisconsin, did he acquiesce and allow the usual designation.
