RAMP Idustries update

By now, any of you who may have ever sent waste (knowingly or unknowingly)
to RAMP Industries in Denver, CO, knows that the EPA knows that you sent
waste to or through the site.

The EPA has sent "First requests for information" to all the PRPs for the
response, disposal of waste on site, and clean-up of the site.

According to Carol Pokorny, who is fronting the EPA's information gathering
efforts in the matter, this first request is to help EPA clean up their
so-called "Waste-in" database, which represents a tally of all volumes and
masses from all documents RAMP had at the site.

The project has cost $2.1 million as of 9/20/95, and is expected to settle
around 3.5-4 million by spring. It is at that time, and not much sooner,
that soil and groundwater contamination will be evaluated, and remediation
of those issues will add to the cleanup bill, and the time it takes to
complete the project and begin to determine apportionment.

Apportionment methods have not been settled, and will not be settled for 3
or 4 months, at least, according to Ms. Pokorny.
