Re: UV Tanning

A year or so ago colleagues found a nasty dermatological
problem (2-3 degree burns) among new immigrants from The Former Soviet Union
who were doing field work picking and packing celery. Lesions were only
on skin exposed to the sun. It turns out that material like psoralen,
also like what the man with white spots used, is a natural product of
celery and other related plants, and on going to read up on it, grocery
clerks who were trimming celery and using tanning centers were the
other large group of victims. gjohn@bgumail.bgu.ac.il
