All Over Contamination -Reply

Before it dies, it would be good to mention that the 5000
dpm/100 cm^2 limit is for beta-gamma emitters except Sr-90
and others as noted in table 2-2 of the DOE RadCon Manual
and for U-natural, U-238, and U-235 and their decay
products.

For example, Transuranics, Ra-226, Ra-228, Th-230,
Th-228, Pa-231, Ac-227, and I-129 have a "total" release
limit of 500 dpm/100 cm^2, with a removable limit of 20
dpm/100 cm^2.

Th-natural, Th-232, Sr-90, Ra-223, Ra-224, U-232, I-125,
I-126, I-131, and I-133 have total limits of 1000 dpm/100
cm^2 and removable of 200 dpm/100 cm^2.

Finally, guidance has recently been given by DOE
authorizing the 10,000 dpm/100 cm^2 limit for tritium surface
contamination.
