Re[2]: FiestaWare -Reply
I could be wrong but surely Homer Laughlin China Co. knew what they were putting
in their wares and the quote from the Huxley book is accurate. HLC used glazes
with 14% uranium oxide by weight to get the red-orange color. Other potteries
soon followed with their own lines including Stangl, Pfaltzgraff, Knowles,
Vernon, Gladding Mcbean, Hall, Red, Wing, Rumrill, Metlox, Taylor and Cowan, to
name a few.

Could all you guys be wrong about the glaze? I was in a class a couple
weeks ago, and the instructor was firmly of the opinion that the uranium in
Fiestaware is a natural component of the CLAY, not necessarily the GLAZE.
