Re: Rad. Safety Technician Position
The University of California, Irvine Medical Center has an opening for a
Radiation Safety Technician to provide hands-on technical support and
assistance to the Radiation Safety Division of the Environmental Health and
Safety Office.
The successful candidate will have three or more years of college-level
course work in an appropriate science, industrial hygiene or engineering
discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
He/she will have knowledge of safety precautions for the safe use of
radioactive materials; knowledge of radiation instrumentation, monitoring
techniques, medical radioactive waste programs and procedures, and
laboratory/medical terminology and practices; and computer skills in word
processing and data base management. The individual selected for this
position will be responsible for performing or assisting in a variety of
radiation safety procedures including radiation monitoring and personnel
dosimetry; instrument calibrations; radioactive waste management,
collection, and processing; in-service education; safety checks of personnel
shielding; exposure measurements; and the monitoring and evaluation of
radiation safety during brachytherapy or radionuclide therapy treatments.
