Re: Infant Radionuclide Intake from Breast Feeding

This is a perfectly reasonable question to expect from a worker, especially
if you are doing bioasssays for her. The Radiation Internal Dose Information
Center (RIDIC) is studying the problem. If you go to their web site at
www.orau.gov/ehsd/ridic.htm, I think that you'll find a file that will enable
you do the calculations.
Clearly, between us HP's (and whatever other kinds of subscribers may be
here) the likelihood of a nursing mother's giving her child a significant
internal dose, as a result of her own internal dose, from occupational
exposure, given the controls we use, is about as small as such probabilities
can get. RIDIC's tables were generated for use in nuclear medicine, where
such considerations can be of great, and possibly decisive, importance.
