PEP courses

The first meeting after the ABHP instituted
the CE program the morning CE talks were
overwhelmed.  So despite the obvious quality
and benefit in attending these the ABHP nudge
was needed for a significant fraction of the
attendees.  If one presumes that this continues
to be the motivation for that fraction, e.g.,
 > 70%, then one would expect the experience
distribution observed.

I have never seen it discussed but the need for
CE credits could also have been a factor in the
surge in meeting attendance that started at Las Vegas
in 1982.  The CE program started in 1977(?), with the first
deadline being in 1982(?). [note-might be off a year, have
not dug out my files to confirm the dates].
