RSO Position



The Scripps Research Institute, the nation's largest not-for-profit
biomedical research facility, is actively recruiting a Radiation Safety
Officer to manage their comprehensive radiation program.  The selected
candidate will be responsible for overseeing a broad-scope radioactive
materials license.  The program encompasses approximately 200 laboratories,
1000 radioactive materials users, and a GCRC.  The RSO is responsible for
the development and implementation of all health physics programs inclusive
of education, internal and external dosimetry, contamination control,
radioactive waste management, regulatory interface, etc.

This key management position functions within a fully integrated and
comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety Department.  Candidates must
have five years of professional health physics experience of which at least
two years must be in an academic environment.  A master's degree in Health
Physics or a related field or Bachelors Degree and comprehensive
certification by the American Board of Health Physics is also required.  The
ideal candidate will have extensive management experience, excellent
interpersonal skills, and a focus towards customer service and satisfaction.
