Radiation Safety Specialist Position Available
RADIATION SAFETY SPECIALIST
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech)
Environmental Health & Safety Services Department
Manages x-ray safety program, veterinary nuclear medicine radiation safety
program, and personnel radiation monitoring program. Interprets federal and
state regulations; revises University policies; consults with regulatory
agencies, faculty, staff and students; prepares quarterly reports for
University Radiation Safety Committee. Actively participates in
departmental team environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: B.S. degree in Health Physics or related area or
equivalent experience; working knowledge of radiation standards, regulations
and radiological principles; demonstrated skill in using radiation detection
instruments; ability to move 40 pounds unassisted; excellent communication
and interpersonal skills; working knowledge of computers and software; valid
driver's license or ability to obtain; radiation safety experience.
WITH PREFERENCE GIVEN FOR: M.S. degree in Health Physics or related area;
radiation safety experience with nuclear medicine and x-ray equipment;
demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment; Certified Health
Physicist. FULL-TIME POSITION.
