Radium... headache

To Peter.Darnell%EM@em.doe.gov

"There are possible medical uses for this radium however, the chemical
and mechanical separation process required to retreive the radium make
it extremely expensive. I am not familar enough with medical HP to
   provide more details".

The main producers stopped production of radium in the 1960s,
Only countries with little or any infrastructure organization still use old
sources, like radium in medicine and industrial application.

To Chris alston

"Dirt has, nominally, 1 pCi/gm radium".

The Clearance level proposal for Ra-226 is in te range of concentration of

To all,

No doubt:
Ra-226, greatest headache . Geological repository is necessary... but such
a repository does not yet exist anywhere in the world...and probably will
not be in operation for some decades.
