Re: Pocket Rad. Worker Handbook

Those persons who would be using the book would be the general craft.
These people are generally not very knowledgeable in RP issues outside
the fundamentals of entering and exiting radiologically posted areas
and reading radiological postings. A few good things that you might
put in your book are those that are important but may not be
remembered by the average worker or by new incoming craft.

     Hose control
     tool control
     fan use
miscellaneous station specific rad material use/storage tips
     high rad control specifics
     electronic dosimeter alarms
     inprocessing tips, WBC, visitors, etc.

If the bulk of your problems are caused by transient workers such as
those who come and go for power plant refuelings, then you may need to
increase the amount of basic or station-specific material.

Radsurfers,

I'm working on pocket radiation worker handbooks for our plant. It will
include responding to alarms, donning and doffing PC's, and other related
rad. worker stuff. I know that many facilities have gone this route. I
would love to check out what some of you have done.

I would appreciate any samples of handbooks.

Please reply directly to ME.
