More in vivo intercomparisons available
In addition to the intercomparisons identified by Dave Hickman's
recent posting, the U.S. Department of Energy Phantom Library needs to
be mentioned. The Phantom Library was established to provide
tissue-substitute calibration phantoms to DOE and DOE-contractor
sites, and other federal agencies throughout the US, and these are
made for the cost of round-trip air transportation. NON-GOVERNMENT
LOANS CAN BE ARRANGED for a cost-recovery fee from the user. The
inventory includes NIST-traceable Bottle Manikin Absorption (BOMAB)
phantoms, a Fission Product Phantom, an Am241 bone whole-body phantom,
a Realistic torso phantom with various tissue-equivalent organ inserts
and lung sets, and thyroid phantoms. The library is operated for the
DOE Office of Worker Protection Programs and Hazards Management
(EH-52) by the Pacific Northwest Natinal Laboratory in Richland, WA.
