Larry Anderson

I am sorry to say that Larry Anderson passed away Wednesday night. Larry had
been battling cancer for the last 3 years. His attitude was very positive
right up to the end, which was so typical of Larry. A memorial service will
be held on Monday, February 24th at 12:00pm at the Chapel at 100 Northgate
Road, Walnut Creek, CA.

Larry was employed at LLNL from 1955 to 1990. During his tenure at LLNL he
performed research on the 90" Cyclotron and Cockcroft Walton accelerator and a
7 MeV Linear accelerator. From 1957 to 1964 Larry performed physical
measurements at the Nevada Test Site. From 1964 to 1990 Larry was the manager
of the Whole Body Counting Facility. It was at the Whole Body Facility that
most of us remember Larry. He is on of the early pioneers in developing
techniques for the measurement of low energy photon emitters. His activities
in verifying and validating the LLNL Torso Phantom, researching ultrasound and
fat measurements will be classic reminders of the pioneering spirit Larry had
in improving the state-of-the-art for whole body counting.

Larry's wife, Jean, has asked that contributions in Larry's honor be made to
either Hope Hospice of Contra Costa County, California or to the American
Cancer Society.

Flowers can be sent to the Oak Park Hills Funeral Home at 3111 North Main
Street, Walnut Creek, CA 94596.
