Health Physics Meeting at Lake Tahoe




The Sierra Nevada Chapter of the Health Physics Society in conjunction with 
the Northern California Chapter of the same announce:

The Fifth Annual J. Newell Stannard Lecture Series "Excellence in Radiation 
Protection"

Friday and Saturday, April 4 - 5, 1997 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Incline 
Village, Lake Tahoe

On Friday, two PEP courses are offered:  "Practical Approach to (Draft) 
Multi-Agency Radiation Survey and Site Investigation Manual (MARSIM) - 
Overview of Field Tests to Date", by Commander Colleen Petullo (chair of the 
MARSIM committee) - 2 hrs.    And, "Communications for Radiation Protection 
Professionals", by Mark Hart, Lawrence Livermore Laboratory - 2 hrs.
The PEP courses are from 1:00 - 5:30 Friday afternoon.

The main scientific program is Saturday, April 5th, from 8:30 to 4:30 pm. 
 The papers are as follows:

"Emergency Response Planning" John Taschner, Los Alamos National Laboratory

"Present Day Prospects and Challenges for Radioactive Waste Minimization for 
the Biotechnology Industry", John Pasinosky, Roche Bioscience

"The Health Physicist and Litigation", Joseph Scinto, Deputy General Counsel 
(retired) NRC

"NESHAP" from Federal and State Perspectives - Presentation and Panel 
Discussion", Periann Wood, USEPA, and Ed Bailey, State of California

"US-Assisted Studies in Dose Reconstruction in the Former Soviet Union", 
Lynn Anspaugh, Lawrence Livermore Laboratory.

The 55$ registration fee for Saturday includes continental breakfast, full 
lunch (your choice of either cilantro and lime marinated chicken breast or 
roast sirloin of beef), coffee, sodas, cookies at breaks, and hors d'oeuvres 
at the no-host bar "Attitude Adjustment"  on Friday evening.  Cheap at half 
the price!!!   The PEP courses are 25$ apiece or 40$ for the pair.

The hotel is a bargain at 100$ per night and rooms are held at this price 
for the "Health Physics Meeting" until MARCH 11th.  The phone number for the
