Open Position Title: RADIATION SPECIALIST
Duties
Under the direction of the Radiation Protection Officer (RPO), provides
training, technical and engineering assistance to promote compliance with
radiation related regulations, permits and University Policy. Develops and
implements programs and procedures to assess and promote personnel safety,
program quality and effectiveness. Responsible for development of
multiformat training presentations, RPO database system, and development of
WEB based applications. Provides (24-hour) emergency support as needed.
Requirements
Requires Bachelors of Science in Science; demonstrated computer
programming experience and ability; minimum of 3-5 years' radiation
protection experience preferred with 1-2 years' instructional experience.
Proficiency and experience in complex database management and Microsoft
Office programs required. Strong knowledge of transportation regulations
and best management practices for academic radioactive material use
required. Must possess initiative, ability to manage multiple priorities,
excellent time management, organizational skills, and ability to work
independently and as part of a team. Strong, interpersonal and
communication skills required. Requires strong working knowledge of NRC,
DOT, MA-DPH, DLI, EPA, and DEP regulations. Occasional respirator use may
be required.
