Re: RAM shipment

I used to think that it only applied to multiple hazards, but on re-reading,
it appears to also cover
the case of a single hazard class.

The reg. states, in part,

Sec. 173.4 Small quantity exceptions.

    (a) Small quantities of Class 3, Division 4.1, Division 4.2 (PG II
and III), Division 4.3 (PG II and III), Division 5.1, Division 5.2,
Division 6.1, Class 7, Class 8, and Class 9 materials that also meet the
definition of one or more of these hazard classes, are not subject to
any other requirements of this subchapter when--

A small quantity of RAM would meet the definition of a Class 7 material, if
its activity
exceeded 70 Bq/g, satisfying the requirement to "...meet the definition of
one or more..."

I too do not recall seeing the 173.4 declaration on any package, so one must
wonder.
