The regulations usually specify 0.25mm for protection against scattered
radiation, which is nearly all of what people are exposed to, with the
exception of some "portable" units, from which there can be a surprising
amount of leakage, and 0.5mm, when the useful beam strikes the body. Note
that interventional radiologists cannot wear gloves of 0.5mm, and do their
work.
