     An afterthought to my previous response.

     The 'model' with the flat bar stock handle was later replaced by one
     made of aluminum tube flattened and kinked at one end, and with a
     bicycle grip on the other.  The cord ran inside the handle and out to
     the probe through a hole where the flat portion began.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer/model of an equivalent to the
HP210T/TPGM/DT304, but with a fairly long (<=50cm) handle?
