Mallinckrodt Inc. (MI) is inviting applications from qualified
candidates for the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) position at the
Maryland Heights facility (St. Louis suburb), Missouri.

MI operates the Maryland Heights facility for manufacturing and
distribution of radiopharmaceuticals.  In addition to processing
byproduct materials, this facility also operates four (4) cyclotrons for
radiochemical and radiopharmaceutical production.

The RSO at this facility is responsible for administration of a very
comprehensive radiation protection/regulatory compliance program.  This
program includes all aspects of licensing, personnel and environmental
monitoring, radiological surveys and evaluations, radioactive waste
management, effluent monitoring, training, air sampling,
instrumentation/calibrations, emergency response, radiological
evaluations of new products, etc.

Typical duties include:

		*	Develop, implement and manage systems of the
Radiation Protection Program for employees, the facility and the
environment
		*	Maintain NRC licenses, and make necessary
amendments for the manufacturing and distribution of
radiopharmaceuticals
		*	Communicate with federal and state agencies on
compliance issues
		*	Supervise HP staff of seven (7)
		*	Respond to and control on-site and off-site
radiological emergencies
		*	Review plant projects for HP compliance
		*	Participate on Radiation Safety Committee

Qualifications (education, experience, special skills) include:

		*	Degree in Health Physics (MS preferred)
		*	Minimum of five (5) years industry experience in
Health Physics (preferably with a materials facility)
		*	Working knowledge of both federal and state
regulations (NRC, DOT, EPA, and State of Missouri
		*	Be on call twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven
days a week
		*	Must have good communication and interpersonal
skills
