RSA Publications produces both Radiation Protection Management (The Journal
of Applied Health Physics), and RSO Magazine, a professional publication
devoted to the concerns of radiation safety officers.  Both journals
address some of the questions and concerns you pose; one is more
"technical" than the other, but both employ quite "real-world," "hands-on"
approaches to the subject matter.  If you would like sample copies of these
journals, please forward your mailing address, and I will send you a free
sample of each.
