Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) performs the
radiological environmental and radiological safety duties for the Yucca
Mountain Project. SAIC currently has an opening for a radiological control
technician. Salary range $28,475 - $39,458. This position is based at our
field location at the Yucca Mountain site approximately 110 miles from Las
Vegas. The work week is four-ten hour days. Inquiries must be received by
October 1, 1997.
Description of duties:
Conduct field surveys, tests, and environmental radiological monitoring
activities in accordance with procedures. Install, operate, maintain, and
calibrate monitoring and test equipment. Perform radiation protection
tasks as directed. Complete and compile necessary paperwork and record
materials. Frequently work physically outdoors in extreme desert
(hot/cold) environment and underground. The work activities include, but
are not limited to, hiking, lifting, climbing, and walking while carrying
instruments/equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in a directly related technical field such as Health
Physics or Physical Sciences. Current DOE Radiological Control Technician
certificate is required. Minimum of two years of relevant experience.
Technical background for this position requires experience in environmental
radiological monitoring, radiation protection and control. Working
experience with DOE and/or NRC regulations is required. Knowledge of, and
familiarity with. DOE Standards and Orders, Regulations and NRC Guides is
preferred. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are
required.
