In the news articles and on the radio (I just heard it on the noon news as I'm writing this) food irradiation is referred
to as being done by "low level radiation". When I knew something about the subject back in the sixties, I wouldn't
call the doses necessary to kill or inactivate bacteria and other microbeasties "low level". Have things changed?
Is all radiation this side of a thermonuclear blast "Low-level radiation" ? Is all radiation "low level" to the media ?
Or is someone trying to play down the hazard by calling food irradiation levels "lowl"? To some people "low" is
perjorative. (Low down rotten radiation); to others, e.g. HPs, especially those who are convinced of the hormetic
effeects of low level radiation, "low" is a terrific thing to be. This looks like a job for superHPs; get the right
information into the public domain without scaring the pants off everyone. What to do ?
