UCLA Radiation Safety has an opening for a Senior HP Tech.  Here's the
official info:

"SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY TECHNICIAN:  $2527-$3040/mo.
 As identified by governmental regulations and license requirements, 
receive and survey incoming shipments, collect radioactive waste and 
prepare for disposition.  Perform radiation survey measurements and 
safety audits of laboratories, and analysis of collected samples with 
counting and spectrometric instruments.  Coordinate waste collections 
with chemical waste collection, where possible, and in maintenance of 
pick-up trucks.  Develop and maintain timely records via log books, 
forms, and computer.  Occasional technical memoranda must be written 
using knowledge of radiation terms.  

QUALIFICATIONS:  Education and experience equivalent to high school 
plus experience of two (2) years radiation safety or closely-related 
work.  Working knowledge of radiation instruments, including various 
lab instruments sufficient for reliable check out and use.  
Familiarity with mathematics sufficient to use instruments, perform 
surveys, and handle waste by developing instrument performance 
records, applying radioactive decay, inverse square and simple dose 
formulae.  Interpersonal skills to interact closely with faculty and 
staff effectively.  Possess valid California Driver's license.  
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and to handle 250 lb. drums in the 
waste program.  Position is subject to the California DMV's "Pull 
Notice System" and an offer of employment is contingent upon proof of 
satisfactory driving record."
