RADIOLOGICAL SAFETY TECHNICIAN:
This position provides support to the Radiological Safety Programs by (1)
implementing and maintaining Radiological Safety Programs, including the
management of Radiological Waste, (2) training faculty, staff and students,
(3) being responsible for all Radiological Safety Programs and Radiological
Waste Management in the absence of the Radiological Safety Officer, and (4)
other program duties as assigned.
Minimum requirements are a Bachelor's Degree in Health Physics (preferred),
Radiological Safety, Nuclear Medicine, Biological/Physical Sciences or
related discipline; one year of comparable or two years of related
professional experience.
The applicant must have knowledge and understanding of NRC regulations and
safety issues and be familiar with EPA and OSHA regulations; knowledge and
use of radiological waste packaging procedures, radiological spill control
materials, container handling tools, sampling and monitoring equipment,
personal protective equipment; ability to handle, manage, and move a full
55 gallon drum. Additionally, all applicants for the above positions
should have the ability to coordinate program activities and work
independently with periodic evaluation of progress; demonstrated oral and
written communication skills; and demonstrated computer literacy including
use of word processing, database and spreadsheet programs.
The salary range for these positions is $30,000 to $35,000 plus benefits.
