A position exists for a Radiological Engineer/Health Physicist at a 
national laboratory in Albuquerque, NM.  The opening is part of a 
staff augmentation contract and is anticipated to last for up to two 
(2) years.

A DoE "L" clearance is REQUIRED to start!  This is an immediate 
requirement and work will commence as soon as possible after 
selection.

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Provide programmatic support to the Radiation 
Protection Program.  Duties include, but are not limited to, the 
following: Perform reviews of radiation protection policies and 
procedures, and propose, coordinate, and implement changes.  Identify 
weaknesses in implementation of 10CFR835, and develop appropriate 
programmatic corrective actions.  Draft policy documents and operating 
procedures, resolve review comments, and obtain effective 
implementation.  Plan and implement corrective actions stemming from 
assessments, audits, and incidents.  Perform technical and 
programmatic analyses and studies, and prepare plans, reports, 
briefings and other communications.  Resolve technical and 
programmatic issues.  Serve on committees, teams, and special 
projects, and participate on assessments and audits.  Provide advice 
on radiation protection practices and regulatory compliance 
requirements.  Perform broad range of radiological engineering 
services, including shielding analyses, studies involving air sampling 
and monitoring, ALARA reviews, etc.  Perform various administrative 
tasks.

REQUIRED CRITERIA:  Advanced degree in health physics, or closely 
related discipline.  Minimum five (5) years experience in radiation 
protection.  Minimum two (2) years programmatic experience, including 
development of policies and procedures, identification and analysis of 
program deficiencies, and development and implementation of process 
improvements.  Must have strong interpersonal and communication 
skills.
