The Health Physics Society position statement on food irradiation on pages
212-213 of the HPS Directory is a useful reference.

The most complete information on food irradiation safety is the position
paper of the American Dietetic Association by Christine M. Bruhn and Olivia
B. Wood entitled: "Position of the American Dietetic Association: Food
Irradiation", Journal of the American Dietetic Association 96: 69-72
(1996). The principal author, Dr. Christine Bruhn is a UC Davis faculty
member and a personal friend. You can probably get a reprint by emailing
her at cmbruhn@ucdavis.edu
