McMaster University is seeking a campus Radiation Safety Officer who will
be responsible for managing a comprehensive radiation safety program at a
research intensive university. Facilities include a 5 MW research reactor,
a 3 MV FN accelerator, an RDS cyclotron, 130 principal investigators, and
over 800 registered workers. In addition, there is significant commerical
isotope production at the Reactor. The RSO reports to the Director of Risk
Management Services, and will supervise a staff of four.

Ability to participate in the graduate Health and Radiation Physics
program would be an asset. McMaster has a long history of research in
applied radiation science, and it is expected that it will build on this
strength in the future, opening additional opportunities for professional
advancement.

Since the RSO also serves as Reactor health physicist, approval of the
candidate by the AECB is a requirement. The position is also restricted to
Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
