ICRP Respiratory Tract Model Short Course

The NJ Chapter of the Health Physics Society and the Delaware Valley
Society for Radiation Safety present a Radiation Safety Short Course on

Title: THE NEW ICRP RESPIRATORY TRACT MODEL
The revised ICRP respiratory tract model was issued in Publication 66 in
1994. We will review the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory
tract, the deposition model for aerosols, lung clearance mechanisms, and
the regional dosimetry of this complex new model. The equivalent dose
to the lung from a radionuclide intake will be calculated from first
principles and compared to the equivalent dose calculated with the NRPB
computer code Ludep. Practical applications of the new model in an ICRP
30 based world will also be discussed.

Speaker: Thomas R. LaBone, co-author of NUREG/CR-4884, Interpretation
of Bioassay Measurements, and numerous other internal dose assessment
publications and presentations.
