Re: Enriched tritium analysis
Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater provides a
method for tritium analysis citing an accuracy of +/- 6% for activities of
200 pCi/ml and +/- 10% for activities of 1 pCi/ml. The method is #7500-3H
and uses LSC.
LANL Health and Environmental Chemistry Manual provides a procedure for
Tritium in Environmental Matrices - Distillation and LS (method 210) that
claims an MDA of 2.5 pCi total activity or 500 pCi/L for a 5 ml sample.
The recent HASL Procedures Manual (available in PDF format at the EML WWW
page) provides two tritium analyses for water samples with an MDA of about
2.5 Bq/L (about 70 pCi/L). These are procedures 3H-01-RC and 3H-02-RC.
Good luck!
The opinions expressed above are well-reasoned and insightful. Needless to
say, they are not those of my employer. (with apologies to Michael Feldman)
