UCLA Radiation Safety Office has a job opening for the Prinicipal EH&S
Technician position.  Following are the details:

Salary Range: $3211-$3868 per month

Working hours: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm

Job Description:
Under the direction of staff health physicists, perform duties and
supplemental assignments in compliance with UCLA license and state and
federal radiation control regulations.  Collect and dispose of low-level
radioactive waste.  Maintain, operate, and calibrate survey
instrumentation, and whole-body and liquid scintillation counters. 
Survey laboratories that use radioactive materials and radiation
producing machines as assigned.  Perform whole body counting, urine and
thyroid bioassays.  Monitor isotope packages and enter inventory records
in database.  Train staff technicians and users of irradiators and
radioisotopes.  Act as a working supervisor along with another Principal
Technician for five Senior technicians.  

Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills to effectively
communicate UCLA Radiation Safety policies to radiation workers and
write technical documents and procedures.  Ability to lift 50 lbs. and
handle drums weighing up to 300 lbs.  Education and experience
equivalent to B.S. degree in a closely related field and two years of
relevant radiation safety experience in an academic medical
environment.  Valid California Driver's License required.  Position is
subject to the California DMV's Pull Notice System and continued
employment is contingent upon proof of satisfactory driving record. 
Working knowledge of IBM or IBM-compatible computer system and software
preferred.
