RE: neutron flux at earth's orbit

According to Lang (Astrophysical Data, 1992) the neutron flux at a distance
of 1 astronomical unit from the sun is about 4-12 (average is 8.7) neutrons
per square centimeter with an average energy of about 10 eV (that's right,
no K or M in front). It's a very low flux by nuclear reactor standards,
but it can add up over long irradiation times.

The opinions expressed above are well-reasoned and insightful. Needless to
say, they are not those of my employer. (with apologies to Michael Feldman)
