INS Laundry/SF Prep Investigation

Hi Folks,
The Anti's tried very hard to get the instructor (Dr. Jay Shelton) fired
for "brainwashing" the kids. They didn't succeed, but they did throw a
fair bit of mud and did a fair bit of harassing. "When the facts are on
your side, hammer on the facts. When they aren't, hammer on the desk (or,
in this case, on the nearest non-believer)." rgm

     Hi all,

I just thought I'd bring up an example of excellent and fair
investigation and coverage of a radiation related issue. The latest
issue of RSO magazine has an article about a prep school science class
in Santa Fe, NM that decided to investigate the INS laundry facility
in their city. There has been considerable controversy over this
laundry facility, with the antis spouting their usual misleading
slogans and false information and trying to shut the facility down.

The results of the science class measurements (contamination
measurements, dose rate, and even gamma spec near the facility) as
compared to other buildings and risks is interesting. They did a great
job of objectively looking into the issue and debunking almost
everything the antis are saying. Hopefully, this article will get a
wider audience, at least in Santa Fe, than just in RSO magazine.
