IAEA Conference

Dear colleagues,


     Upon request of the French Government the IAEA involved an
international expert team to carried out a Study on the radiological
safety at the atolls of Mururoa and Fangataufa after the termination of
the nuclear tests.  The Study addresses the present radiological
situation as well as its future development, including the migration of
radionuclides through the geosphere and release into the environment.


     The results of this Study will be presented during a Conference in
Vienna on 30 June - 03 July 1998.  Please find the Second Announcement
and Preliminary Programme of the Conference attached for your
