Re: deceased patients who had Sr-89 therapy -Reply

Los Angeles County measured a crematorium after cremation of a Sr-89
patient. The patient had been injected with 3.9 mCi on Oct 10, '95, who
died on Nov 25, '95. The body was held in cold storage until March 30,
'96. We measured the retort before & after cremation. Before was 2000
dpm/100 cm2. Body cremated on Saturday, & we measured on Monday.
Max contamination on the floor was 500,000 dpm/100cm2, & the remains
measured 9 mrad/hr using an ion chamber.
All of this, & two other incidents, were reported in RSO Magazine
Jan/Feb '97. Please read the article for add'l details.
