The experts can probably elaborate (even more than
has already been done!), and it has been a long time
since I have worried about GC detectors and columns
and carriers and ...
However, I believe there were reasons based on the
analytes in question why one used tritium-foil instead
of Ni-63 ECD systems on the effluent end of the GC.
I do not believe it was an issue of one radionuclide
completely replacing the other.
