Some Americans are at higher risk for developing thyroid cancer
after exposure to radioactive iodine from nuclear bomb tests in the
1950s and 1960s, but a new report from the Institute of Medicine
and National Research Council says the government
should not sponsor national or regional thyroid cancer screening.
