ASSISTANT RADIATION SAFETY OFFICER

GENERAL INFORMATION
This recruitment will be used to fill one Radiation Protection
Technologist 3 position in Radiation Safety at Oregon State
University, Corvallis. You will receive notice by mail informing you

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Your OSU application form will be reviewed to verify that you meet the
qualifications stated in this section. To receive credit, your
application form must clearly show that you have: a Bachelor's degree
with courses in the physical and biological sciences and three years
of experience in radiation health which included applying federal and
state laws, regulations and radiation safety principles to evaluate
and control hazardous or unsafe radiological health and safety
conditions; OR four years of experience in radiation health which
included applying federal and state laws, regulations and radiation
safety principles to evaluate and control hazardous or unsafe
radiological health and safety conditions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The purpose of this position is to assist the Radiation Safety Officer
in maintaining the University's radiation safety program. The major
duties of this position include inspecting radioactive material labs
and x-ray machine facilities; maintaining a computer database of
inspection information; managing a radioactive waste program;
reviewing the work of a hazardous waste technician for regulatory
compliance; preparing shipping manifests, reports and other
documentation; reviewing regulatory changes and scientific findings;
measuring radiation and contamination levels; managing the instrument
calibration program; and providing consulting and training services to
campus users.
