Recent studies published
by the National Research Council
(the research arm of the National Academy
Of Science ),
The New
England Journal of Medicine ,
and the Health
Physics Society
have concluded that there are no health risks posed by residential exposures
to EMF. These studies corroborate EPA-Region 2 experiences
involving EMF in environmental settings. In light of these
findings and competing demands for programmatic funds, the EMF program
in Region 2 was discontinued in 1994.
Currently, the Federal Communications Commission
(FCC) maintains an EMF radiofrequency
safety program
in the Office of Engineering and Technology. This program may be
reached at (202) 418-2464.
More information on EMF in general may be obtained from the National
Insitute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) and the U.S.
Department of Energy
from the EMF Reasearch
and Pubic Information Dissemination (RAPID) Program.
Information may also be obtained by calling the NIEHS information hot
line at 1-800-363-2383. |
