Re: OSHA X-ray/Accelerator Inspections

Several years ago, we in Texas had a report of an OSHA inspector
inspecting a facility on the second floor of a building that was
using x-ray equipment. Some other occupant of the building
complained of illness and pointed the OSHA inspector to the office on
the second floor.

Supposedly the inspector inspected the medical x-ray facility and
cited them for failure to have an exhaust fan in the room with their
x-ray equipment. The exhaust fan was "cited" as a means to "evacuate
the room of x-rays remaining after an x-ray exposure."

We could not find the specific x-ray facility nor confirm that
an OSHA inspector, had performed such an inspection. However, this
was a story that circulated in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area during 1994
or 1995.
