Keith Eckerman explained the ICRP approach to doses from progeny
radionuclides in my previous post. A key issue which he touches on is that
it was previously assumed that the progeny biokinetics was just like the
parent, while independent kinetics may be very important in many cases.
ICRP-30 did not utilize independent kinetics. For radium-226 independent
kinetics are used in ICRP-56, 67, and 69.
