"Baby alarms emit radiation"

"Baby alarms emit radiation" is a headline in a Swedish
newspaper today (Metro). The inspiration to the article
comes from a German "ÖKO-TEST" that has tested
30 babyphones.

After some introduction about hair driers and other
apparatus causing "electrosmog" it is pointed out that
these devices should be kept as close to the baby as
possible. There is some confusion regarding waves and
fields in the article. It ends by a note that at 10 cm
distance, the low frequency field was over 5 microtesla
(5000 nanotesla - they didn't use "micro" in the article)
and "up to 300 V/m which is more than under a powerline"
(my, BC:s quotation marks). "In such a strong field, the
diode lights up if the (probe) device is held agains the
skin of the child." the article ends.

I know little about these baby phones but the effect of the
inverse cube law must be dramatic (10 cm to 50 cm distance
means two magnitudes). And then the field under a power line
is probably, and usually much higher than the 300 V/m.
