To anyone interested:
DOT's Research and Special Programs Administration recently published an
updated version of the old "A Review of the Department of Transportation
Regulations for Transportation of Radioactive Materials," last revised in
1983. The new publication is called RAMREG-001-98, "Radioactive Material
Regulations Review."
Copies may be obtained without cost from RSPA's Office of Hazardous
Materials Initiatives and Training, (202) 366-4900.
For those with access to the internet, the entire document is available
for downloading or printing from the web page of RSPA's Office of
Hazardous Materials Safety (http://hazmat.dot.gov), by clicking on the
"Training Information" Placard and then on "Radioactive Materials
Regulation Review" under "Instructions and Guidance on the Hazardous
Materials Regulations," or on the "OHM Publications & Reports" Placard
and then on Hazmat Publications and Videos," "Publications at No Charge,"
and "Radioactive Materials Regulation Review." The publication is in an
Adobe .pdf file; a link is provided on the above web pages for obtaining
the appropriate Adobe Acrobat Reader software to image and print the
document.
It is not DOT policy to include the names of persons involved in
performing contracted work; nevertheless, the first draft of this
publication was prepared by a well-known professional in radioactive
material transport matters, and has since been modified to some extent in
our office. We take all responsibility for any errors or ambiguities
which may have crept in, and would welcome any constructive criticism on
these or any other aspects of the document.
