Old Device containing Radioactive Material
RADSAFE Group:
I am looking for information on an old abandon device, apparently an installed gauge. Its a Kel-Ray Projector Model CB. The device was manufactured by the M. W. Kellogg Company who had offices on Third Ave in New York City and was distributed by Metal & Thermit Corporation, New York 17, N. Y. NY DOL tells me that the radioactive material license for M. W. Kellogg was terminated in 1971.
Does anyone have any idea as to the activity and the isotope the device was designed for? The activity and the isotope areas on the source tag are blank.
The following is directly form the source tag:
The Model _______ Kel-Ray Projector is designed for use solely with Radioisotope encapsulated by or for the M. W. Kellogg Company. The maximum Activity of _______ for which it is designed is ______ millicuries as measured by the M. W. Kellogg Company method NPD______. Instructions for use of other radioisotopes and operation of the projector are issued by the M. W. Kellogg Company and are available from Metal & Thermit Corporation. Shipment of this projector containing encapsulated radioisotope source must be in accordance with the shipping regulations pertaining to the carrier involved.
Please send responses directly to me at: Thill@mail.dnr.state.ga.us.
