	Washington Hospital Center (WHC) Job Posting

	We have immediate openings at our facilities in Washington, D.C. for a  
	Staff Health 
	Physicist/Radiation Safety Specialist and Health Physics Technician.


	Staff Health Physicist Position $ 50 k to 60 k per year

	Wanted: Dynamic, self-motivated individual who appreciates challenging 
	and exciting work in the area of cutting edge medical/biomedical 
	research and patient treatment modalities.  In addition, this position 
	will be involved in all aspects of radiation safety at the Washington 
	Hospital Center.

	Successful applicant will provide assistance in the continued 
	development, implementation and evaluation of the radiation safety 
	program at the WHC.  Primary responsibilities will include consultation 
	with hospital personnel to maintain safe work practices with radiation 
	sources, surveillance of radiation safety activities,  evaluation of 
	radiation producing equipment, monitoring of the facility, personnel, 
	and the environment. The incumbent will also be responsible for the 
	conduct of radiation safety training as well as working with the RSO and

	Radiation Safety Committee on licensing issues and conditions with 
	appropriate licensing authorities.

	Minimum qualifications: a Master's degree in Health Physics or closely 
	related discipline and certification by the American Board of Health 
	Physics or American Board of Radiology highly desireable;  or a 
	bachelor's degree in Health Physics or related science plus additional 
	equivalent experience (4+ years) in a hospital/clinical radiation safety

	program.  Applicant must be knowledgeable of U.S. NRC regulations and 
	guidance and should be familiar with District of Columbia regulations, 
	possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and demonstrate

	strong  interpersonal skills.  Some personnel supervision may be 
	required.


	Health Physics Technician $ 30 k to 40 k per year

	Wanted: Dynamic, self-motivated individual who appreciates challenging 
	and exciting work and is interested in gaining a wealth of experience in

	both existing and emerging medical/biomedical research and patient 
	treatment modalities.

	Incumbent will perform radiation surveys, environmental and occupational

	monitoring , and decontamination duties for the radiation safety 
	program.  Primary responsibilities will include monitoring and 
	identification of radioactivity in medical waste, implementation of a 
	decay in storage program, collection and distribution of dosimetry, 
	monitoring of brachytherapy and iodine therapy procedures, room and 
	facility clearance surveys, and the receipt, review and distribution of 
	radioactive materials shipments.  In addition the incumbent will assist 
	the RSO and other radiation safety staff members on additional special 
	projects. 
	 
	Minimum qualifications: a Bachelors degree in health physics/related 
	science or an associates degree in health physics and equivalent 
	experience (3 to 5 years) in a radiation safety program, preferably in 
	a hospital setting. 

	Applicant should be knowledgeable of U.S. NRC and state/ District of 
	Columbia regulations, possess strong written and oral communication 
	skills, and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
